Answering a question with a quote: ‘We live in a nation of quotes’

NEW YORK — The “we live in the greatest nation on earth” quote is now ubiquitous in the United States.

The Associated Press reported Wednesday that the number of quotes has nearly tripled in the past decade.

And the most famous quote, “I like to think I’m above politics,” has now become “I’m the first one to say, you know, we live in quotes.”

The AP also reported that the AP surveyed more than 1,000 people from across the country and found that most people don’t know who coined the phrase.

The AP’s Emily Bazelon, David Weigel and Mark Berman contributed to this report.
