Annabelte Chelli was the best-quoted author of 2016.

The Times of Ireland’s bestselling author was cited more than 5 million times last year, and she was cited by a record 1.2 million people in 2017.

Annabelle was born on 1 October 1958 in Dublin, and her first book, The Little Blue Book, was published in 1976.

In the years that followed, she won numerous awards, including the James Joyce Award for Fiction, and the National Book Award.

She has been called one of the most influential writers of our times, and was honoured in 2009 with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
