How to be brave and bravely quote Al Jazeera

Al Jazeera Arabic has posted the first ever TED talk by a Saudi prince on the topic of courage, a phrase which has long been associated with Saudi Arabia.

The talk is titled “I am a brave Saudi prince”.

The video, which was uploaded on Tuesday, shows Prince Alwaleed bin Talal talking about the need for Saudi Arabia to be “a brave kingdom” for the country to have the capacity to “face up to its future”.

“I am going to talk about courage,” the prince says.

“We are a brave kingdom, and our future depends on it.”

He then goes on to talk on about Saudi Arabia’s relationship with other countries.

“I would like to talk to you about a country in the Middle East, where people are talking about what they see as a problem,” the Saudi prince says, adding that “people want Saudi Arabia back”.

The Saudi government has recently faced criticism over the role that the kingdom plays in supporting radical groups across the Middle-East, particularly in the region’s biggest Muslim nation.

Alwalesh bin Talals comments are part of an ongoing debate within the kingdom over how to address the problem of extremism in the kingdom.

Saudi Arabia, the world’s top oil exporter, has come under fire for its human rights record.

In a statement last year, the country’s foreign ministry said it had arrested more than 1,000 people over the past year, including some of its citizens, who were involved in fighting in Yemen, including a former army officer who was allegedly planning to join a militant group.
