The Giants have a chance to become the first team in the history of the NFL to win Super Bowl LI

By AJ McCutchenAssociated PressAs the NFL celebrates its 50th anniversary, some of the league’s best franchises are making the transition to new owners, and some are already looking to the next chapter.

Here’s a look at five that could have the most to lose by taking over in the next few years.AFC South (11-4): Atlanta Falcons (12-2)Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan and his teammates are not only the most decorated franchise in NFL history, they’re also one of the best teams in the division.

They have the league lead in wins, yards and points per game.

That’s a lot for a franchise that has been in the NFL for only six years.

The Falcons also have the NFC’s best record.

They’re 5-1 with Ryan and quarterback Matt Schaub as starters and 2-0 with their defense.

They’ve won five straight games.

They won’t have to worry about any injury woes.

Atlanta is the only team in that NFC South division with an offense that’s scoring at least 15 points per contest and rushing for at least 300 yards per game, per Football Outsiders.

The Panthers (11) have the NFL’s best defense.

The Panthers allowed just 11 points per offensive drive in Week 4 and were tied for second in the league with a league-high 28 sacks.

That allowed the Giants to go 1-3 with an average of 18 points per offense.

The two teams also are the only NFC teams without a winning record.

The 49ers (11)- New Orleans Saints (10)- San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has been one of NFL history’s most dominant quarterbacks.

He’s thrown for nearly 2,000 yards in three seasons and has been named to the Pro Bowl five times.

He has won six playoff games, including a Super Bowl XLIX victory over the Patriots in January.

The Raiders (9)- Arizona Cardinals (10)The Raiders have won seven straight games and have had three players win the MVP award in the last five years.

But the defense is the key to the Raiders’ success.

They are ranked fourth in points allowed per game and seventh in points per drive.

It’s not easy to win a division when the teams are so similar.

The Bears (10-4)- New York Giants (9-4)The Bears have been one step closer to a Super.

The defense has held the Giants scoreless in three straight games after allowing at least two points in two of those contests.

And the offense has scored just nine points per NFL drive this season.

The Bears have had at least five offensive players with at least 150 yards receiving.

But that hasn’t been the case for the Giants.

The Ravens (10).

The Ravens have won three straight, including an overtime victory over Miami in Week 11.

They will try to keep their streak alive in their home opener against the Steelers on Sunday.

The Steelers are the NFL leader in points scored and rushing and lead the league in rushing offense (405.8 yards per contest).

The Chargers (9).

San Diego is the league leader in yards per carry.

They lead the NFL with 5.6 yards per rush.

But they have a huge weakness: defense.

San Francisco’s defense ranks 29th in points surrendered per game (19.4) and 26th in sacks (27.5).

The Chargers are allowing an average 3.2 yards per play.

The Bengals (9)The Bengals have the No. 1 offense in the AFC.

Quarterback Andy Dalton leads the team with 5,631 passing yards.

The offense is led by receiver A.J. Green, who has 661 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

The Bengals have been ranked in the top 10 of total offense five times this season and in the bottom 10 twice.

The Browns (9), Bears (9.5), Raiders (10), Titans (9.)

The Bears are the AFC’s best team and have been a favorite to win it since the 2014 season.

They could win it again in 2016 if they can avoid injuries and the loss of running back Jay Ajayi to the Cardinals.

The Giants (10.)

The Giants are one of two teams in that division without a losing record, but the Giants have been in a three-game losing streak since being beaten by Seattle in Week 1.

The Giants could lose quarterback Eli Manning if the Cardinals play the Seahawks again.

The 49ers are the NFC West’s top team.

The Eagles (9, 12)The Eagles are the league leaders in points against.

They scored 19 points per Sunday and allowed only one rushing touchdown in the season finale against the Saints.

But their defense is a mess.

The Eagles allowed 23 points per defense and just 11.3 points per pass.

The Lions (9.-10)- New England Patriots (9-)The Lions are in the midst of a four-game winning streak and have the top defense in the NFC.

New England is averaging 24.7 points
